Death of Hector and Achilles
Achilles returned to battle to avenge Patroclus. He fought Hector in single combat while both armies watched. Achilles killed Hector and cruelly dragged his body around the walls. That night, old King Priam secretly came to beg for his son's body. Moved by the old man's grief, Achilles showed mercy, returned the body, and granted a truce for funerals. When fighting resumed, Paris shot Achilles in his vulnerable heel with a poisoned arrow, killing him.
