The Muster of the Troops
Greek kings gathered at Aulis with their armies: wise Nestor, crafty Ulysses, mighty Ajax, Thersander of Thebes, and Agamemnon (chosen as overall leader). An oracle said Troy couldn't be taken without Achilles. His mother Thetis, knowing he would die young, hid him disguised as a girl at King Scyros's court. Ulysses found him by disguising as a peddler and watching who grabbed the sword among trinkets. Achilles agreed to join the army.
