Blindness and Death of Oedipus
The Thebans rewarded Oedipus with the throne and Queen Jocasta as wife. He ruled wisely until a plague struck. The oracle said it would stop when Laius's murderer was found. Investigation revealed that Oedipus had killed his father and married his mother. Jocasta killed herself; Oedipus blinded himself and went into exile. His daughter Antigone loyally guided him. They wandered to the sacred forest of the Furies, where Oedipus disappeared during a storm. Antigone returned to find her brothers quarreling.
