Story of Deucalion
During Deucalion's reign in Thessaly, another great flood occurred. According to legend, Deucalion and his wife Pyrrha were the only survivors. A divine voice told them to throw their mother's bones behind them. Deucalion interpreted this to mean stones (Earth's bones), and a new race of people sprang from the stones they threw. Deucalion's sons Amphictyon and Hellen became kings. Amphictyon called chiefs together at Thermopylae to defend against Thracian invaders, creating the Amphictyonic Council.
