The Founding of Many Important Cities
After the flood, Cecrops founded Athens and taught people to farm, make olive oil and wine, weave wool, and harness oxen. Cadmus, a Phoenician, founded Thebes and brought the alphabet to Greece. Danaus founded a new Argos and established religious festivals. Perseus, a descendant of Danaus, built Mycenae with its massive walls, gateways, and tombs. The Pelasgians gradually joined these colonies and formed small states with their own kings.
