Frithiof survives terrible storms sent by Helge's magic. He defeats the sea monsters and returns to find everything lost. In fury, he burns Balder's temple and becomes an outlaw. He goes into exile as a Viking, raiding and adventuring across the seas, trying to forget Ingeborg and the injustice done to him.
