Aristides the Just
Aristides was called "the Just" because of his perfect fairness. But Themistocles, who disagreed with him about policy, used ostracism against him. An illiterate citizen asked Aristides himself to write "Aristides" on his voting shard. When asked why, the man said he was tired of hearing Aristides called "the Just." Aristides wrote his own name and was exiled. Later, when Persia invaded again, he was recalled and served his city loyally.
