Hippias Visits Darius
Hippias met with Darius and asked for help to regain Athens. Meanwhile, the Greek cities in Ionia (Asia Minor) revolted against Persian rule. Athens and Eretria sent ships to help the Ionians, who burned the Persian city of Sardis. The revolt was eventually crushed, and Darius swore revenge. He had a servant remind him daily at dinner: "Master, remember the Athenians."
