The Rise of Sparta
Sparta was founded by the Heraclidae after their return from exile. The country was called Laconia after an ancestor Lacedaemon. The conquered people became farmers while Helots became slaves. Sparta had two kings from the twin sons of Aristodemus. Lycurgus, a guardian of the infant king Charilaus, refused to kill the baby for power and instead made wise laws to make the Spartans good and healthy.
